Between the East and the West, tradition and innovations: graphic art decorations of Slavo-Serbian books written in the Cyrillic script (1494–1638)

The exhibition encompassес elements of the graphic art (illustrations, flags, initials, etc.) of books written in the Cyrillic script, published between 1494 and 1638 in the Serbian variant of the Old Church Slavic language. Those books were mainly intended for ecclesiastical use, except for the collection of miscellaneous content, consisting of religious and didactic books intended for a wider audience. Special attention will be paid to the iconographic peculiarities of the graphic art decorations of early imprints which were influenced both by the ideas of the manuscript tradition and the incorporation of contemporary Renaissance ideas.
